MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD! DON’T CONTINUE IF YOU HAVENT SEEN ‘ALL HIS ANGELS’.
Unfortunately it can’t all last forever. After causing mischief both on his homeland, and across the sea, Ragnar Lothbrok is dead after being dropped in a pit of snakes. The manner of his death shouldn’t have come as a surprise for anyone who knows the myth of the legendary Viking. But I wish we could have seen more accomplishments from Ragnar during his reign. I feel like we’ve seen him fail a lot in his battles. A lot of exciting moments, but also quite a bit of flops. So it made his death a little less impactful. I did like that King Ecbert took the time to walk all the way to where King Aelle was keeping Ragnar captive, and was there for his friend when his death sentence was delivered.
Still no news on Ragnar’s other son Bjorn, and his quest across the Mediterranean Sea, but back in Kattegat Ivar shares the news of Ragnar’s death with his brothers, Ubbe and Sigurd who in turn share the news of Aslaugs’s death. Being the closest to her, Ivar is beyond devastated, and angry over his mother’s death, which doesn’t look good for Lagertha’s new position as the new Queen of Kattegat.
