As the country’s largest trading centre, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) orders the building of defence towers, and ditches to protect them from anyone jealous of Kattegat’s wealth. While helping construct one of the towers, Ubbe (Jordan Patrick Smith) makes a show in front of Lagertha of setting Margrethe free, and asks her to marry him. Ubbe and his brothers then work together to summon Vikings across the country side to come to their aid in avenging their father. While the great army slowly begins to form, and feast are held in the great hall, Ubbe and Ivar make it the perfect opportunity to strike against Lagertha. Caging her, and some of her men within the hall, Ubbe blocks Lagertha from behind while Ivar (Alex Hogh) her front. But before Ubbe can strike the first blow, Bjorn storms in, and puts an end to the attempted murder stating, if they want to kill Lagertha, they will have to kill him too.
With the return of Bjorn and his party, it seems the favor is falling on Lagertha’s side as to how many of Ragnar’s sons want her dead. Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) obviously doesn’t want his mother killed, Sigurd has no ill will against Lagertha for killing Aslaug, and is almost happy about it, and Hvitserk is in agreement with Sigurd. Ivar is practically drooling at the mouth for his chance to kill her, but Ubbe seems to be teetering in the middle, and can possibly be reasoned with.
While Bjorn may not want to see his mother murdered, I don’t think he can be fully trusted either. After having a fight with Torvi, and storming out, he finds himself in the company of Astrid. Let’s hope that Bjorn, and even Astrid don’t try anything that threatens Lagertha’s rule, or even her life.
With the great army slowly coming together, and the time for war upon them, Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) builds Ivar a chariot so he can fight along side everyone else during the battle.
In Wessex King Ecbert (Linus Roache) continues his studies with Alfred in preparation for when he is to become king. Meanwhile Judith travels to Northumbria to visits her family. While there she tries to persuade her father to join forces with King Ecbert in order to prepare for the upcoming Viking attack, but King Aelle refuses.
