Oswald is off his rocker. Or so he thinks. A journalist is after him to prove that he is still the same criminal he’s always been. The same old Penguin who was sent to Arkham Asylum for murder, which she was all to happy to remind everyone on national television. But a night prior to his television interview, Oswald (Robin Lord Taylor) is seeing his dead father wondering the mansion, and asking his son for help in finding him, and not to trust the birthday boy. Minutes later the police arrive to inform Oswald that someone has dug up his father grave.
The morning of the interview Oswald walks into a scene of staff members singing Happy Birthday to his new assistant, Ed’s replacement, and it sends him into a rage. Entering the assistants office, there’s a trial of muddy footprints leading to the closest, which reveals a large duffle bag. Inside, the remains of Oswald’s father. When his assistant walks in and starts asking questions, Oswald proves the journalist right by bashing the assistants head in with a trophy before making his way downstairs.
During the interview Oswald once again sees his father’s ghost and runs from the interview. Behind the scenes, Ed (Cory Michael Smith) is pulling the strings and using the Chameleon and having him shapeshift into Mr.Cobblepot, and to trick Oswald into thinking he’s going crazy, and this is only the first step in destroying Oswald.
While everyone is grieving for the loss of Mario, Lee and Falcone take it a step further and order a hit on Jim in retaliation for Mario’s murder. But not everyone is mourning the loss, while he may work for Falcone, Victor is actually relived that Jim killed the doctor because he, “never quite liked him”. But while Victor is happy, Falcone isn’t and Victor’s got a job to do. Kill Jim Gordon. But at every turn Jim manages to escape, and it makes you wonder just how good of a hitman is Victor?
Lee (Morena Baccarin) takes a trip to Arkham Asylum to visit Barnes to get a better look at what her husband would have become should he have lived. But whatever hopes she was looking for died was Barnes begins his rant of all he will kill when he’s released, and how he’s the city’s executioner. Seeing how the virus has caused such insanity in someone who was so level headed gave Lee pause, and begged Falcone to call off the hit on Jim.
But Oswald’s slow decline into the Penguin, and Jim’s near assassination weren’t the most exciting moments of tonight’s episode. Jerome is back! Or he will be soon enough, be it in physical form, or in memory, former employees from Indiana Hill have gathered former (dead) patients and are bringing them back to life, having already brought one girl back, only to lose her to a too high voltage that mushed up her brain. Their motivation? To bring Jerome back. Already he has a cult following who gather to watch the old police footage of him assaulting the GCPD with the MANIACS.
