Vikings S4Ep18: Revenge Review/Recap

To prepare for the departure of her son and the great army, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) leads a sacrifice, and Earl Jorgenson offers himself as the nights sacrifice. Bjorn and Astrid sneak off during the ritual and continue their affair which Lagertha confronts them on during Bjorn’s (Alexander Ludwig) goodbye. Ubbe and Margrethe get married, but while they and Hvitserk celebrate, Ubbe sees the way they look at each other and offers to share his new wife with Hvitserk, who is more than happy with the arrangement, as is Margrethe. But Harald unfortunately didn’t, and isn’t going to get his happily ever after, because the woman who promised to marry him, if he became King of all Norway shows up, and confesses that she has married someone else. Someone of lesser status. Harald is heartbroken, and his brother, Halfdan encourages him to kill her as a way to reclaim his honor, but Harald refuses, claiming he still loves her.

In Wessex Aethelwulf (Moe Dunford) is feeling insecure about his father’s love, and doesn’t believe hie father to be a worthy King, that he’s become more and more withdrawn from the affairs going on in the world. In Northimbria, King Aelle hasn’t heeded Judith’s warning and is forced into battle with the Northmen when they arrive. But he and his army are unprepared, and outnumbered and quickly fall to the great Viking army.

King Aelle is captured, and taken to the spot where he killed Ragnar. While restrained Bjorn begins performing the blood eagle. When done, Bjorn and his brothers hang Aelle’s deformed body.
