Norman is arrested for the murders of Audrey, Sam, and Jim Blackwell. At the station he is fingerprinted, and while talking to his lawyer, is advised to plead guilty due to insanity. Norman/”Mother” refuse to spend the rest of his life in an insane asylum. Norman’s lawyer pleads with Dylan to stand by Norman at his preliminary hearing, or else there’s a chance Norman can be found guilty and sentenced with the death penalty.
After recieving news of her mother’s death, and that Norman was the one who killed her, Emma isn’t exactly thrilled that Dylan is considering helping Norman, and leaves to deal with her mother’s affairs.
Dylan arrives at Norman’s hearing, but quickly leaves when the Sheriff Greene begins to go over the evidence against Norman, including Audrey’s autopsy. Dylan wasn’t the only one to leave the hearing, but is approached by Madeleine who asks how he can live with himself, knowing that he did nothing to stop Norman, knowing what he was capable of.
After returning from spreading her mother’s ashes, Emma makes the decision to return home, but understands Dylan’s reason for feeling conflicted about his brother. But before heading home, Emma makes a stop at the station to visit Norman where she finally understands that the Norman she once knew is gone, instead she meets “Mother” and asks “Mother” to give him a message for her, “tell him I miss him”.
While filling up the cars gas tank, Romero sees the local paper stating Norman arrest. Romero goes into a frenzy. When at the station he holds Reggie at gunpoint and forces her to lead him into the station where he holds all the officers at gun point until he’s taken to Norman. Forcing Norman out, and having Reggie lock the officers in his cell, Romero begins to strangle Norman, before one of the deputy’s tells him to stop. Grabbing Norman, he demands Norman take him to Norma’s body.
